Volunteer Information:
It’s not uncommon for visitors at Good Samaritan to be greeted by a smiling volunteer. Hospital volunteers often serve as the first contact for visitors as they enter the hospital. Good Samaritan volunteers are seen at the Information Desk, Gifts & More, Human Resource entrance, Surgery waiting, Cancer Pavilion and the Health Pavilion registration desk where they assist visitors with their needs. Volunteers also serve behind the scenes by assembling patient packets, repair wheelchairs, assembling patient charts, covering phones over employees’ lunch periods, serve as a support system to patients and knit newborn baby items. Regardless of their duty, big or small, the volunteers make a huge impact on Good Samaritan. A significant volunteer force is the Good Samaritan Auxiliary, which is made up of a group of volunteers who work in the hospital’s gift shop. The major role of the Auxiliary is to provide a service to the employees and visitors, as well as provide additional financial assistance to the hospital. Since 1964, when the Auxiliary’s first donation was documented, the Auxiliary has donated over $700,000 to the hospital to help meet the needs of the community.
