Volunteer Information: For more than a century, we have provided volunteer support services to patients and their loved ones. Our program offers diverse opportunities to support inpatient and outpatient care. You must be at least 15 years old to join the volunteer team. Volunteer Services can provide the opportunity for you to apply your skills, knowledge, and time to assist patients and staff. Whether you are motivated to simply give back to the community, want to expose yourself to different health care careers, or seek to distinguish yourself from your peers, you will find the perfect, rewarding volunteer opportunity. The first step to joining our volunteer program is attending volunteer orientation where you will learn about volunteer requirements, the application process, and what opportunities we have available. To register for orientation, please call us at 877.737.4636.. For more information about volunteer opportunities at this hospital, visit PRESENCE SAINTS MARY AND ELIZABETH MEDICAL CENTER - SAINT MARY CAMPUS volunteer website now.
Application Process: The Volunteer Services Department collaborates with others throughout the hospital to regularly review needs for volunteers. Collectively, we review all applications and place volunteers in the appropriate departments based on needs and interest. Applicants are required to attend a brief orientation. At each orientation session, we explain our volunteer program, confirm availability, review interest and goals, as well as short- and long-term plans. All applicants chosen to serve as volunteers will undergo a background check in conjunction with a third-party firm. Applicants are required to undergo a health screening, which is conducted by the Associate Health Department. For more information about the health screening, visit the Requirements and Expectations section. After background and health clearance, we will make an appointment with you to complete an online orientation. Orientation takes four to eight hours to complete. Please allot one day to complete the orientation. After completing the online orientation, Volunteer Services will contact you to confirm your placement and schedule.
