Application Process: The volunteer application is online, and you will receive the link for it after you attend a Volunteer Information Session. Everyone interested in volunteering must attend one of these one hour overview sessions before applying. You can attend the session in-person at the Phoenix Children's hospital campus, or attend online via a one hour webinar. At the Session you will receive more information about the volunteer opportunities available and learn about the following steps we ask you to complete in three to four weeks. After completing your online application you will receive a confirmation email with instructions how to complete the five step online pre-orientation. The online pre-orientation contains important information about volunteering inside the hospital. The information is filled with videos and links to make learning fun and easy. Once you complete your online pre-orientation, we will determine if there is a current volunteer opportunity that matches your profile and desires. If there is a current match we will contact you to arrange an interview. At the interview we'll talk more about hospital needs and a potential match for you. You'll need to complete an immunization review and we do a Background Check, which are all part of the hospital's safety policy. All employees at the hospital complete these as well. You will receive more information about these at the Volunteer Information Session. And finally, there may be additional training required for your specific volunteer position. For example, if you will be working with patients at their bedside, completing our Patient Care training course may be required. You will also attend a guided hospital tour to become familiar with the layout of the hospital. That's it. Many people complete the steps above in about three to four weeks. Having your immunization records available is a big help to shortening the process, and so is being flexible with the times you are available and the types of volunteer roles you are willing to do. We look forward to you joining our in-hospital volunteer team!
