Volunteer Information: Each year NSMC volunteers contribute an average of 50,000 hours of service. They enhance the quality of our care through their work with patients, families, visitors and staff. Volunteers provide services ranging from office work to direct patient care to assisting with fund-raising events. Every effort is made to place volunteers according to individual interest, skill and time availability. Most choose to contribute their time on a weekly basis, but special projects/events are sometimes available. . Application Process: Potential candidates are required to fill out an application and interview with a member of the Volunteer staff. All volunteers are required to receive a TB (tuberculin) test. They also must provide documentation of childhood immunizations (if available) or submit to blood work. Both TB test and blood work are provided by the hospital free of charge. All volunteers must complete CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and confidentiality forms, receive a hospital photo ID and go through the hospital orientation process in order to become familiarized with hospital policies.
