Volunteer Information: If you're passionate about community service, care deeply for people and have the time and energy, we'd love to have your help at Northwest Medical Center. Volunteering opportunities are available in various departments throughout our hospital. Get in touch, and let's talk about how can help each other. We have more than 325 volunteers who work in almost every area of the hospital. Our volunteers play a vital role in meeting the non-medical needs of our patients. Volunteering at Northwest Medical Center is fun, but it's also a commitment. We ask that our volunteers contribute at least 4 hours per week. Adult volunteers are asked to make a six-month commitment to us (100 hours), and our junior volunteers - ages 15-18 - make a four-month commitment (60 hours). . Application Process: 1. Print and complete the application (click here to download the PDF) and mail it to: Volunteer Office Northwest Medical Center, 6200 N La Cholla Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85741. 2. Upon receipt of your application, you will be called for an interview. Junior Volunteers need to be accompanied by a parent. 3. Please bring the following to the appointment: Two Letters of Recommendation from non-family members which discuss your suitability to volunteer in the hospital setting; Copies of your immunization record or records which show your immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox (varicella), tetnus and TB. If you are unable to provide proof you will be tested for immunity; A photo ID and your social security number; You will be given training materials to complete for the orientation; Adults will sign a permission form for a background check.
Comment from Carol D Bishop: I am a former elementary school teacher. I would like to volunteer in the hospital or homes with the children that need help with school work or I can read to them and/or help with homework while out of school.
