Volunteer Information: Volunteers at Piedmont Newton Hospital are a valuable part of our excellent health care team. They give generously of their time and talents to provide assistance to patients, visitors and staff. They are regularly rewarded with sincere thanks for their generous acts of kindness. Over 225 men, women and young adults support Piedmont Newton Hospital through their volunteer efforts each year. Service hours exceed 25,000 annually as a result of time given in 28 areas in the hospital, community programs and fundraising. Senior volunteers, college students and high school students make up the volunteer base.. Volunteer Programs: Adult Volunteers; College Volunteers; Junior Volunteer Summer Program
Application Process: Adult Volunteers: Adults applying for volunteer service at Piedmont Newton Hospital will submit a completed volunteer application. Assignments are made based on openings in the volunteer schedule, skills and interests of the applicant. A background check and 2-step tuberculosis screening are required. Adult volunteers are required to make a minimum 3 month volunteer commitment. Before applying for a job at NMC, volunteers are required to serve for 6 months and have 80 volunteer hours. College Volunteers: College students may apply year round by submitting a completed adult volunteer application. A background check and 2-step tuberculosis screening are required. Letters of recommendation will be written upon request for those students who actively serve a minimum of 12 weeks and 36 hours. Junior Volunteer Summer Program: High school students going into the 10th, 11th and 12th grades the following school year may apply for the summer Junior Volunteer Program. Applications are accepted beginning in January. The last date for acceptance is April 1. Junior Volunteers are selected based on grades, application, and interview. Tuberculosis screening required.
