Employees and members of the community give thousands of hours to these volunteer programs every year, ensuring a level of success that would not be possible without their participation. In addition, Volunteer Work brings together a diverse group of caring, committed and specially trained volunteers to assist the staff at Memorial Healthcare System. From teenagers to great-grandparents, the volunteers at Memorial Healthcare System are a close-knit group who share the rich reward of helping others. Memorial Healthcare System offers a variety of positions and special projects for anyone interested in volunteer work. Some positions require regular hours, while others are flexible enough to accommodate people whose schedules will not allow them to volunteer a set number of hours. Some duties can be performed by people who have limited mobility or are homebound.. Volunteer Placements/Services: Admitting; Child Care; Clerical; Environmental Services; Flower Delivery; Fundraising; Gift Shop; Mail Room; Reception Desk
Application Process: Adult Volunteer Application Requirements: Submit completed application with a copy of Driver’s License / State Identification; Read and sign Release for Memorial to Procure an Investigative Consumer Report (criminal background check); Submit MHP Areas of Interest and Time Availability Form; Submit Volunteer Interest Questions, Teenage Volunteer Application Requirements: Submit completed application with copy of proof of age (Birth Certificate/Picture ID); PARENT must read and sign Parental Consent Form; Submit a Letter of Recommendation from a Teacher, Counselor or Community Member; Submit Official Transcript showing a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5. Once you have met the above requirements, you will be contacted within 4 to 6 weeks for an interview. Applications are reviewed by Volunteer Services and only those applicants who are best suited for available positions will be contacted for interviews. In addition, please understand that not all applicants who apply, will be called for an interview and not all applicants who are interviewed will be asked to attend the orientation. Please note, as part of the volunteer program requirements, you will be required to complete a 2-Step PPD/Tuberculosis Skin Test, attend a 1 Day Hospital Orientation and purchase a volunteer uniform for $20.00 (check or cash only).
