Application Process: If you are interested in becoming an adult volunteer (18 years or older) at EMMC, please see the below steps: 1. Fill out an application. 2. Attend an Information/Orientation Session 3. Personal Interview 4. Health Screening Tests. In addition to filling out a health history, EMMC volunteers will submit to the following screenings with no charge to the volunteer: The tuberculosis (TB) screening requires three visits to the medical center to complete. Most TB screenings result in a normal reading; however, if the TB screen is abnormal, or if the volunteer is unable to have a TB skin test, a chest x-ray will be required. Proof of immunizations against mumps, measles, chicken pox and rubella are required. If the volunteer does not have proof, a titer will be drawn to verify immunity status. If the blood test indicates that you are not immune to any of these diseases, the medical center will offer the immunization free of charge. Summer Student Volunteer Program: To be eligible for consideration, you must be a high school student entering freshman though senior year in the fall of 2018. The Student Volunteer Program runs for eight to nine weeks each summer, dependent on the school calendar year. First year students are required to obtain two reference letters as part of the application. First year students are expected to complete a health screening (by EMMC’s Employee Health Office). First year students attend an interview with the Student Volunteer Coordinator. Returning students are automatically invited to participate in a subsequent summer provided they are still age appropriate and barring any extenuating circumstances from previous participation. Student volunteers attend a mandatory orientation. Student volunteers receive department specific training and are expected to be familiar with and understand all the information in the orientation handbook.
