Application Process: 1. Fill out an online application. 2. As part of the interview, we will discuss your placement and schedule. Most placements have a set schedule (same day/time of the week). If you don't think you can commit to a set schedule due to other responsibilities, please let us know so we can assign you to an opportunity that allows for flexibility. 3. After the interview and acceptance into the program, all candidates will be asked to complete the following requirements prior to the first day of volunteering: a. Complete a one-hour new volunteer online orientation. This new volunteer handbook is for your reference and includes materials covered in the orientation. 4. Complete a free-of-charge medical screening at our employee health office including: a. Tuberculosis (TB) test, b. Agreement to receive or bring proof of varicella, MMR and tdap vaccinations (for those born after 1/31/1957)., c. Agreement to receive or bring proof of the influenza (flu) vaccine during flu season (usually October through March). If you have a medical or religious reason for not receiving a flu shot, we ask that you fill out an exemption form. If you are ages 14-17 years old, a parent or guardian will be asked to attend the medical screening with you. The medical screening process can take up to two weeks to receive the results. You will receive more information about this process once accepted into the program. 5. Consent to a criminal background check (applies to anyone 18 years old and older).
Comment from Robert Calhoun: I am interested in volunteering at the hospital because I want to gain experience in the medical field. One day, I might want to become a doctor. Seeing things happening in real life will help me to understand more of what is involved.
