Give the Gift of Time

Volunteers provide a special gift to the community and to our patients, visitors, employees and physician community. Volunteers of all ages are utilized to assist our staff in a variety of capacities based on individual qualifications and areas of interest. Our volunteers are valued members of our team and in appreciation OVMC and EORH provides volunteers with a uniform, free parking, a complimentary meal, inclusion in hospital activities and educational workshops. In addition, OVMC and EORH honor their volunteers during National Volunteer week with a special recognition luncheon.

What do Volunteers do?

There are many volunteer service placements available in both patient care areas and non-patient care areas. Some volunteer opportunities include: greeting patients in admitting and registration, escorting patients, offering refreshments via our coffee cart, assisting staff with clerical duties, stocking and delivering supplies, working in the gift shop, and visiting patients.

Junior Volunteers

Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital offer a Junior Volunteer program. Juniors must be at least 14 years of age by June 1 or be entering into their freshman year of high school. Our Junior Volunteer program is a great way for teenagers to donate their time by serving the community and gaining valuable experience in developing future career paths. The best time to apply is in March or April before the summer you plan to volunteer. The teen will complete an interview in the spring and must attend orientation in early June. College scholarship opportunities are also available.

For more information on becoming a volunteer, please contact Mary Velez by calling 304-234-8643 or 740-633-4545.
