We accomplish this goal by assisting the professional staff in providing comfort care to patients and their families, by raising funds, and by granting scholarships for continuing medical education.. Application Process: A wide variety of opportunities are available throughout the health system for volunteers ages 14 and up. Prospective volunteers are interviewed for placement, attend an orientation session, and receive on-the-job training. The minimum commitment required is four hours per week on an ongoing basis, with seasonal placements available for at least four months.
