Volunteer Information: We welcome caring individuals to be a part of our team of volunteers. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to share your experience, knowledge and compassion, learn new skills and make new friends. Our volunteers play an important role throughout our organization by helping to make a positive difference in the lives of our patients and their family members. They are one of our most valuable assets because they give the most precious commodity there is - themselves.. Volunteer Placements/Services: Reception Desk; Clerical Support; Transport Department; Clinical and Non-Clinical Departments; Spiritual Care Associate; I-Rounding
Application Process: You must complete an application, which includes pertinent information about your education and occupational background, previous volunteer experience, availability and service areas of interest. Two personal or professional references (other than from relatives) must be provided. In addition, minors must receive parental permission. Once you have completed your application, an interview will be scheduled with the Director of Volunteer Services. At the interview, you will discuss your skills, areas of interest and reasons for volunteering. The interview is a key tool in determining placements which will be the right fit for you. Applicants must receive medical clearance through WorkWise, our Occupational Health department. All volunteers are required to attend a general orientation, which provides information about our health system and the role of volunteers. Areas covered in these sessions include the organization's mission, information on dress code and appearance, an overview of patient privacy and confidentiality issues, infection control procedures, fire safety, disaster procedures, risk management and incident reports. Volunteers also receive a tour of the facility. Volunteers then receive specialized training for their area of service. An employee or experienced volunteer provides this overview, in cooperation with the director of Volunteer Services.
