Volunteer Placements/Services: Tutoring; Arts, crafts, reading, music and/or sports with our students or residents; Gardening; Clerical duties; Interpreting for the hearing impaired or those who do not speak English; Classroom assistant; Library assistant; Fundraising; Event organization
Application Process: Our volunteers go through an orientation process to increase their understanding of our work with those with emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Training times vary depending on the volunteer position. All volunteers who will have direct contact with clients must have a fingerprint background check (both state and federal), two tuberculosis skin tests done 30 days apart, and sign a confidentiality agreement. Fingerprinting and tuberculosis tests are done at Brook Lane’s expense.
